WID-GLAC 2016 Year in Review

2016 was a great year for WID-GLAC, and we are looking forward to 2017! This year our chapter supported women in defense by providing events aimed at networking, mentorship, and professional development. This included panel discussions, formal networking events, fundraising events to support women pursuing degrees in STEM fields and national-security related fields, and fun events such as happy hours and a book club.

One highlight of the year was our annual White Party, which allowed our chapter an opportunity to raise money for the HORIZONS Scholarship fund to support women in national security related fields, honor three amazing women: Dr. Claire Leon, Director of the Launch Enterprise Directorate, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command; Brenda Threatt, Executive Director U.S.VETS - Long Beach; and Michelle Scarpella sector vice president, Global Logistics and Operational Support, for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems - and enjoy brunch and mimosas in the sun!

We are looking forward to continuing our work in the coming year. While our membership has remained flat for the past several months, we are challenging ourselves to grow our ranks in 2017!
